Bench Coil Winder — Hand-Crank

A crank gives you feel. You know when you're on the last turn of a slot, when the wire is pulling tight, when to stop. A motor doesn't know any of that. This winder has no electronics to fail, no torque curve to fight, and no settings to dial in. Pick it up, clamp it down, and wind.

Why hand-crank

The 4:1 gear ratio means you're turning the crank slowly while the spindle moves at a useful winding speed. You can stop on a quarter turn when you hit the last slot. You can back up without a jog button. The mechanical counter clicks once per spindle revolution and resets with a thumb wheel — no batteries, no display to read in bad light.

What it winds well

Speaker voice coils, hobby transformers, ignition coils on vintage small engines, relay coils, pickup coils, and anything else where you're learning the craft or working in small quantities. Standard 5/16 in spindle takes most commercially available mandrels.
